We are ready
to welcome you back!

It is with great hope that all of you are well and safe. Below please read our in- person guidelines carefully.  We have in place these guidelines so that we can have a safe environment to worship and hear God’s Word. We look forward to seeing you and Welcome Home!

Here’s what we’re doing to keep you safe
  • If you are sick or are not yet comfortable attending worship service, we encourage you to continue watching the online service from your home a www.joyforyou.org, www.youtube.com, or facebook.com/joylutheranhouston.
  • If you have been tested for the COVID virus and are awaiting test results,
please stay home and watch services online until you receive your results.
  • Mask will be required to wear once entering the building unless you have a medical reason for not wearing one.
  • Please continue to sanitize your hands when you enter. Sanitizer stations are positioned in the foyer, restrooms, kitchen, and the sanctuary.
  • When seating in the sanctuary, the section of chairs on the far right and far left sides will be reserved for those who still chose to social distance.
  • There will be no coffee and doughnuts served before service. The kitchen will be closed. We are hoping to return this fellowship time around June.
  • The Nursery will be opened to anyone with small children.
  • We will not be having Bible Studies before service. Plans are in the works to resume soon.
  • The water fountains have been closed and will not be available for use. Water will be set out on the table across from the kitchen window for anyone needing something to drink.
  • The entire building will be sanitized before and after services for everyone’s safety.
Nursery Guidelines:
  • Parents must accompany their children while in the nursery.
  • Everyone 10 and older are required to wear a mask while in the nursery.
  • Parents should bring their own toys for children to play with.
  • After worship service, it is the parents responsibility to make sure the tv is turned off, the nursery is wiped down (wipes are in nursery) and the nursery is sprayed before leaving.

Communion Guidelines:

  • Communion will be distributed after worship service is over. The Elders and/or Ushers will direct everyone on where to proceed.
  • Pastor Mark and Elders will continue to have masks and gloves on while distributing sacraments. Masks and gloves will be worn to prepare sacraments for distribution.
  • Communion kits with wine and bread are still going to be used.
  • If there is anyone still not comfortable with coming into the building for communion, there will be Drive-Up Communion.
  • Drive-up Communion will begin around 11:30am and last until about 12:00pm. Be sure to watch for the Elders for instructions on how to proceed through Drive-Up Communion.
  • Communion Sundays are the 1 st and 3 rd Sundays of every month.
The church is still under construction. Casual attire is suggested because of the dirt and dust. The floors are very sticky because of the glue still on the floor so be sure to wear shoes that will fit securely on your feet and that you do not mind getting dirty.
